Exploring the epidemiology and global prevalence of chronic cough across continents, including Oceania, America, Europe, Asia, and Africa the session has emphasised the classification of cough by duration (acute, subacute, chronic),^[2] sputum production (productive vs. non-productive), and diverse aetiologies, including respiratory (postnasal drip syndrome, pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, pleural disorders, etc.) and non-respiratory causes (GERD, recurrent aspiration, psychological factors, middle ear infections, etc.).
